Event Description:
Please join us at an American Flag Retirement Ceremony to help ensure that our community's tattered, faded flags are retired in a dignified and respectful manner. The joint effort aims to also encourage citizens to replace worn flags with new flags.
Military etiquette dictates that worn flags be burned in a "retirement ceremony". The burning is to symbolize purification and rebirth when performed.
Unserviceable flags can be dropped off at Hemline Monroe or the museum from now until December 11th during business hours. Worn flags can also be brought to the ceremony.
