Ribbon Cutting - Early Head Start - West Monroe Center

Following the aftermath of damage from freezing temperatures, the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana diligently undertook extensive reconstruction to restore this vital educational hub for young children in our community.

The restored Early Head Start-West Monroe Center reveals upgraded facilities, including enhanced classroom spaces, modernized learning resources, and improved safety features. These renovations align with the Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana’s dedication to delivering high-quality early childhood education programs that foster growth and prepare children for future success.

The renovation project was necessitated by freezing temperatures causing pipes to burst at the Early Head Start center on December 25, 2022. The pipes were in the ceiling of the classrooms and caused water damage throughout the entire building, resulting in a total loss. Throughout this period, the Children's Coalition collaborated with the City of West Monroe, dedicated local contractors and supporters to ensure a comprehensive and swift restoration process. 

The demolition began in March of 2023, renovations began in August of 2023, and were completed in November of 2023. The Early Head Start-West Monroe Center reopened on Monday, January 8, 2024.

To commemorate this achievement, the Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana, along with the City of West Monroe and West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, will host a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Early Head Start-West Monroe Center, located at 508 Austin Avenue, West Monroe, LA. 

Local officials, community partners, families, and supporters are invited to join in marking this momentous occasion. Light refreshments will be served.
