Ouachita Green and Black Bayou National Wildlife Refuge will host an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 21.
The Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black Bayou National Wildlife Refuge, located at 480 Richland Place in Monroe. This is a free event open to the general public.
The 2018 Earth Day Celebration will feature approximately 24 exhibitors that will present activities and information on the environment. One of the highlights of the day will be the turning of the Black Bayou NWR Goose at noon, which represents the northern migration for the spring.
Saturday's Earth Day Celebration will also kick off the Ouachita Green Spring Photo Contest. Entries will be accepted in three categories - Amateur, Youth (16 years old and under) and Professional. Entries may be submitted electronically at
ouachitagreenphotocontest2018@gmail.com or on Instagram by tagging Ouachita Green and using the hashtag #ouachitagreenphoto18. Prizes will be awarded in each category, and winners will be introduced at the Ouachita Green Annual Awards Luncheon to be held in June.
