City of Monroe to be Honored as 2025 Children's Coalition Dragon Boat Festival Champions

The Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana is proud to announce that it will officially present the 2025 Dragon Boat Championship Trophy to the City of Monroe on Monday, August 11, 2025. The City of Monroe's team, "Roe Dat Boat," was crowned the overall champion of the recent festival, held on the campuses of the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). Their team was also awarded the Biz Cup for being the fastest team in that category.  
The presentation ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM at Monroe City Hall, located at 400 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway, Monroe, LA 71201. Community leaders, event sponsors, team members, and the public are invited to attend and celebrate this victory. 
"The City of Monroe team, 'Roe Dat Boat,' showed incredible teamwork and spirit on the water, truly earning their title as champions," said Brittany McNamara, Development Director for the Children’s Coalition. "This event is about more than just a race; it's about bringing our community together to support a shared vision where all children and families can thrive. We are so grateful for the City of Monroe's partnership and participation, and we look forward to celebrating their hard-earned victory." 
Mayor Friday Ellis and team “Roe Dat Boat” are expected to accept the trophy on behalf of the city and their victorious team. 
During the ceremony, the Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana will also officially announce the date for the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival, encouraging teams and sponsors to begin their preparations for the next event.
