Glenwood Regional Medical Center (GRMC) has announced that plans to renovate and expand its Emergency Department (ED) are underway to better respond to the emergent needs of the Ouachita Parish and surrounding areas.
The $11 million project will include a renovation of the existing 11,212 square foot space and the addition of approximately 5,400 square feet, bringing the total footprint of the unit to over 16,000 square feet.
“To carry out our mission of expanding access to high quality healthcare, we must grow with the
community,” said Matt Roberts, CEO of GRMC. “In the last ten years, we have made significant
investments in expanding our services and bringing advanced patient care technologies to the area. Our Emergency Department expansion is the next step.”
The expansion will add 10 additional treatment rooms, including specialized rooms to care for trauma,
cardiac and bariatric patients bringing the total room count to 26. The renovated and expanded
emergency department will also feature a dedicated fast track, ambulatory care area, larger triage and
family waiting areas.
With the hospital on pace to see over 30,000 patient is 2016, the renovation will enhance patient flow
and make the registration process faster and easier for patients. The project is expected to be complete by June of 2017.
