The Ouachita Parish Public Library will hold the 39th Annual Pumpkin Bash on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  The event will be held at the Main Branch Library at 1800 Stubbs Avenue in Monroe.  Except for Main Branch, all branches of the Ouachita Parish Public Library will be closed on Saturday, October 21 in order to help with the festival.

Pumpkin Bash is a family-friendly festival with activities for all ages.  Each branch presents activities and games for attendees, and children who attend can earn books as prizes.  Other attractions will include caricature artist Jim Tindall, bounce houses, a photo booth, a DJ, stilt walkers, and characters Elephant and Piggie from author Mo Willems’ children’s books.  All activities are free; as are cotton candy, lemonade, and popcorn.  Community organizations will also participate with information and activity booths.

As in years past, the costume contest is held for children, infant through eighth grade, with a serarate category for families. Registration for the costume contest is from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.  The contest will begin at 12:00 noon for children ages 0-2 years, 12:15 for ages 3-4 years, 12:30 for ages 5-7 years, 12:45 for ages 8-12 years, and 1:00 for the family division.
